Loft Insulation
InstaFibre Loft Quilt is available in 60mm, 80mm, 100mm,
150mm, 170mm and 200mm thicknesses in widths to suit
most joist spaces.

The material is rolled between the joists and may then
be applied in a second layer across the joists to prevent
the cold bridge that is created by the ceiling plasterboard
and each of the joists.
InstaFibre Blown Loft Wool is installed using a pneumatic
blowing machine, which cuts the material into consistent
pellets and blows them through a 65mm hose into position in
the roof. Only the hose is passed through your home during
installation as the machine remains permanently in the
installer's delivery vehicle. For inaccessible areas such
as ceiling voids, under boards or in difficult corners,
an injection nozzle may be used to provide a more controlled
delivery of the material through 18mm to 26mm holes.
The installer who has control over the speed and pressure
of the delivery determines the thickness of the material.

Fire
InstaFibre Loft Quilt and Blown Loft Wool are classified
as non-combustible with a Reaction to Fire Classification
A1 to BS EN 13501-1.
Gases: Vapour resistance
InstaFibre Loft Quilt and Blown Loft Wool possess
negligible vapour resistance allowing vapour to pass
freely through the insulation.
Sound
InstaFibre Loft Quilt and Blown Loft Wool can be used for
sound reduction in lightweight structures and partitions.
When used as the sound absorption medium in suspended ceilings,
it will achieve a typical noise reduction coefficient of 0.8
averaged over the range of 125 - 4000 Hz. Precise values will
depend on the thickness of the material and method of application.

Design Considerations
Condensation to avoid conditions that may cause interstitial
condensation, consideration should be given to installing a
vapour check on the warm side of the construction.
BS 5250:1989 Code of practice for the control of condensation
in buildings gives detailed guidance as to the precautions
to be taken in ensuring adequate ventilation.
